"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frighten us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people will not feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone and as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give others permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others." -- Marianne Williamson, from her book A Return To Love: Reflections on the Principles of A Course in Miracles (1992)

Final Project: Phase 1

SURVEILANCE and TRACKING:

the socio‐cultural language of our time…

What do we know?

We may or may not be aware about how much surveillance and tracking

has been like a normal part of our interactive lives.

We may not even be bothered or even stopped to think about

how we are desiring or believing that are we are simply

living a normal ordinary private lives like any other day, but in reality,

our lives are very much accessible to the public eye--

and we actually sign up to be watched!

Each time we access the internet, talk on our phones, or turn on our gps

all the rest of the world knows who we are, where we are, and

what we are doing.

This project aims to make us aware of how we are being watched,

tracked, and monitored. But I will not delve deep into how and why but by who.

The perspective I chose for this particular research and future creative illustration

of my investigation is a global view looking into the international organizations whose

jobs are, "supposedly", to look after us and protect our rights to privacy.

My article

German intelligence service is as bad as the NSA

has introduced me to three superpower countries who have agencies

or organizations that work almost similarly in order for their

respective countries to have protection from internet surveillance.

The United Kingdom...

The United States of America...

And Germany, leading the European Union.

I will look deeper into what Stefan Heumann and Ben Scott's study

about the above countries' internet surveillance programmes.

This article also mentions Niko Härting, a Berlin-based lawyer, who has compared

the legal foundations work of NSA (National Security Agency of the United States)

and BND ( the Bundesnachrichtendienst), Germnay's intelligence service.

The progress of my research and this project will be constantly posted here

in this blog, including sketches of my illustration which will be the product

and the voice that hopefully ensue all the data and emotions

revealed through this research.

My Logos!!!

So here are five sample logos

I would've used to label

some of the things I do every day:

My Logo for while I'm listening to music...

...when I'm in the metro...

...when I'm sleeping...

...when I pray...

...when I eat.

ALPHABET in the CITY

Today,

our class exercise was about

"looking differently."

It was a sort of scavenger hunt for letters around our campus.
Below are some of the letters of the alphabet we found
playing around with perspective, figure/ground, framing,
and a little bit of imagination.

Now, you know what to do when
you're out for a nice walk on a beautiful day.

Walk slowly.

Look differently.

Stop from time to time.

 Find something to wonder about.

Getting to know COLOR.

So this is my 2nd attempt at trying to understand COLOR.
This assignment is an exploration on hue, value, and intensity
over one line drawing pattern.
I choose to build mine on type...
The capital letter "R" in the Zapfino font to be specific.
I was going back and forth to and from photoshop and illustrator
and the works below are the results.
I hope I used color properly!!!
I'm all for learning!!!
